The first Gaylabration was launched in 2011, following the passage of marriage equality legislation in New York, as a way to celebrate love and community. It continues to gaylabrate each year in support of LGBT rights as the featured Saturday night dance party of Portland Pride.

The mission of Pride Northwest, Inc. is to encourage and celebrate the positive diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans communities, and to assist in the education of all people through the development of activities that showcase the history, accomplishments, and talents of these communities. It organizes of the Portland Waterfront LGBTQ Pride Festival & Parade.
