Portland shows its pride year-round with big LGBT events well before and after official Portland Pride in June, which takes over Waterfront park and the city's friendly bars and venues. March brings the POWFest women's film festival, May brings the infamous Red Dress Party fundraiser, and some of the biggest summer celebrations include Black Pride (usually running alongside main Pride), Beartown, Peacock in the Park, Portland Lantino Gay Pride, along with queer music and film festivals. Many Portlanders also head north to celebrate Seattle Pride.
