The Sansui Summer Cup is the biggest thoroughbred horserace of the year in Johannesburg and one of the big three in South Africa. The posh event is held at Tuffontein Race Course, founded in 1887, a year after the city itself was born. While it's not Ascot, the Summer Cup draws a fancy crowd of celebrities and socialites, nibbling on gourmet foods and partying to live music between the 12 races.
