Doppio Zero started out as a bakery al fresco cafe in Greenside in 2003 and grew into a full-service restaurant with Mediterranean and Italian fare. It has since cloned into a small chain with other locations in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Egypt. Its name comes from Double Zero (00), the grade of the finest milled flour used in its gourmet pizzas, pasta and bakery goods. It makes its own gelato in the summer.
