Opened in January 2016, De School is a cultural initiative from the team behind the now-closed Club Trouw that brings together nightclub, restaurant, café, music venue, exhibition space and gym on the site of a former technical school. The basement club, with a capacity of 700 to 800 people and Funktion 1 sound system, was opened to much hype, filling the school's former bicycle storage area with a program of live music and club nights. The venue has a 24-hour license so events can naturally flow into brunch or a kickboxing, yoga, cross training or strength and conditioning class. It plans to close in 2021.
