A mix of old and new Amsterdam, the Jewish Quarter (Jodenbuurt) is home to the Waterlooplein flea market, the zoo, botanical gardens and Rembrandhuis museum. It became a Jewish neighbourhood in 1600 when Jews from across Europe moved to Amsterdam in search of relative freedom. Few returned alive after WWII, but the area has kept its legacy.
