Recommended for: Culture

Established in 1998, the Acapulco Philharmonic performs under the direction of Eduardo Álvarez in the 1000-seat Juan Ruiz de Alarcon Theater at the Convention Center. Thanks to a government grant, all concerts are free. It schedules about 24 concerts a year - the season beginning in February - as well as children's concerts and performances in other venues. Plácido Domingo, who has a vacation home in Acapulco, has appeared with the orchestra at benefit concerts.
