Built between 1985 and 1989 as an urban reconstruction project around the historically classified Shaughnessy House mansion, the Canadian Center of Architecture is a 130,000 square-foot (12,000 m2) award-winning construction with exhibit halls, the Paul Desmarais Theatre, a bookstore, a library and a study center, conservation offices, restoration laboratories and a sculpture garden.
