The Miccosukee tribe, once part of the Seminole Nation, operates the Miccosukee Indian Village and Cultural Center 25 miles west of the Florida Turnpike on the Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41). Look for Mile Marker 70. It features a modest museum, airboat rides into the Everglades, alligator wrestling demonstrations, a Native American crafts shop and a restaurant with tribal specialties like frog legs. Admission to the Village is $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 6 to 12. The 30-minute airboat rides are $16 per person. Tour operators also offer a safari into the Everglades that includes Miccosukee villages, wildlife spotted from airboat and swamp buggy, hotel pick-up and drop-off and the option of visiting a Native American casino or spending the night in a hunting lodge.
