Parliament House, the 10-acre lakefront complex known as the largest, gayest place on earth, is pretty much always open with a bunch of bars, a beach, a theater, pool lounge, billiards bar, drag shows, male dancers, dance floor, videos and a hotel. Open since 1975, it is the longest running gay club in town. Definitely a check-it-off for a night, an evening, an event, a concert.

It has been a few years since I last stayed at Parliament House. It was a rather bad experience last time so I was in no hurry to return. I have gone to the Flamingo in St. Pete the last few Florida vacations but found it closed this time. Well, it was getting bad too so no surprise.

I stopped going there several years ago because the property was so bad and the staff were like some military task force. Last Thursday, July 18, I made the unfortunate decision to give Parliament House another chance. Wow, did I regret it. The condition is much worse, with the lakeside grounds overrun with weeds and all of the chairs and lounges broken. Worse, at about 2:30 AM security...
