Designed by Barton Myers, Dr. Phillips Center opened in 2014 and when completed will cover two city blocks at a cost of $514 million. Its Walt Disney theater, where Broadway shows often play, can seat nearly 3,000. A smaller acoustic theater for ballet, opera and orchestral performances is under construction. Dr. Phillip Phillips for whom it was named made his money in citrus.
