Dungeons Beach, which can be reached only by a 15-minute boat ride, is a destination for extreme surfers. Its shallow open reefs in shark-infested waters are home of the biggest surfing waves in the world and the Red Bull Big Wave Contest each South African winter. Waters are cold and unpredictable, but sheer wave faces of 15 - 25 feet (4 - 6 m) are the draw.
