La Colombe, recently relocated to the Silvermist Organic Wine Estate, is one of the top restaurants in Africa and beyond. Its young chef Scott Kirton, who wins awards in his own right, took over from Luke Dale-Roberts when he left in 2010 to open Test Kitchen. La Colombe has gourmand and vegetarian set menus at lunch and dinner with or without wine pairings. Kirton also has opened Foxcroft, a less expensive but no less innovative restaurant and bakery in High Constantia Centre with inspired desserts like elderflower doughnuts (light milk ice, raspberries) and compressed strawberries on a toast croissant with mascarpone.
