The 290-acre Retiro Park dates back to 1630, and it is home to several monuments including the Crystal Palace, the Alfonso XII monument and the Fisherman's House. On warm days, it is a popular destination for lawn lounging and book reading or just soaking up the sun. There is also lake with boat rentals available.

A good place to go for a walk with some good spots for photo opportunities. What I liked best is the Palacio de Cristal - a marvellous building in the center of the park. Once you're there you might also want to have a look at the fallen angel. There are lots of statues in Madrid, but only one that depicts a fallen angel...kind of special and besides, why do angels fall?
