Begun as a juice bar in 1931, Pic Nic was transformed into a seaside restaurant in the mid-50s and named after the movie staring William Holden and Kim Novak, a favorite of the new proprietor. The same family owns Pic Nic today, serving paellas, seafood specialties and tapas paired with local and regional wines. Pic Nic also offers breakfast daily and a special "esmorzars forquilla" - the local take on brunch - on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 11:30 am. The "fork breakfast" includes solid fare like baby octopus with baby broad beans, cuttlefish with potatoes and a Catalan stew made from parts of the head and trotters of cow, calf or pig. It's near the Bassa Rodona gay beach.
