The Mexican Open moved to Acapulco from Mexico City in 2001. Part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour Play, it was voted the WTA International Tournament of the Year seven times and WTA's Tournament of the Year/Americas in 2014. It is played at the Hotel Princess Mundo Imperial, which has eight tennis courts and a 6,000-seat stadium.
