The impressive La Minerva, a prominent landmark, is surrounded by a fountain in a traffic circle not far from the Romanesque Vallarta Arch. The 26-foot (8 m) bronze goddess has become one of the most important symbols of the city since it was sculpted in the 1950s. The roundabout is sometimes closed to traffic to accommodate crowds celebrating a major win by the Chivas football (soccer) team.
