From the airport, take a taxi to the Melia Vacation Club Puerto Vallarta near Marina Vallarta. It has great childcare services and entertainment like a playroom with arcade games, hip hop classes, water balloon fights and arts and crafts. Fun for adults include tennis, the swimming pool, fitness club and excursions into town.

Grab your swim suits and head for Aquaventuras Park to swim with the dolphins, zoom down water slides, try the zip line and float on a lazy river. About a 10-minute drive north of the airport, it can also be reached by public bus and has kid-friendly food in the restaurant and snack bars. Doors open at 10 am.

In the late afternoon, stroll along the Malecón (boardwalk ) where you'll all be amazed and and delighted by the monumental sculptures, including a giant seashore, a unicorn, leaping dolphins and figures climbing up a pole high overhead.
