El Bar is the speakeasiest speakeasy in the city: found beneath the El Azteca Mexican restaurant off of Ponce, the only way to find one's way inside is to go around the back to the basement door after 10 pm and knock. Long a magnet for the hipster set, it's truly Atlanta's best kept nightlife-secret, for the crowds are still small and edgy-queer, the drinks still cheap, and the door still weirdly painted and unmarked.
