Malibu Creek State Park, sometimes called the Yosemite of Southern California, is 8,000 acres (3,200 ha) of oak savannah, streams and tallgrass plains only 25 miles (40 km) from downtown Los Angeles. Formerly owned by 20th Century Fox Studios, it was the outdoor set for "M*A*S*H." A partial restoration of the set is on view. The park is popular for camping, fishing, bird-watching, horseback-riding and hiking. Fifteen miles (24 km) of trails follow streams. It is open dawn to dusk.
