Michael Schwartz, the chef who launched Michael's Genuine Food and Drink in 2007, was one of the earliest proponent of farm-to-kitchen in Miami and continues to be committed to local sourcing in his Design District flagship, pizza restaurants, Royal Caribbean cruise-ship kitchens, Raleigh Hotel outpost on South Beach and the Cypress Room, his wood-burning grill in the Design District. At Michael's Genuine Food and Drink, reservations to dine - particularly at brunch - are all but mandatory. The innovative menu is always changing, but crispy pig ears, crispy sweet & spicy pork belly and duck confit remain favorites.
