Central Park Shenanigans

Recommended for : Family
1
Arrive at LaGuardia Airport in NY and take the SuperShuttle into Manhattan, which will run you from $15 to $18 per person. This is the most convenient option for families, as one cab may not fit all your luggage and family members, and the public transportation can be difficult to navigate with both kids and bags.
2
Drop your bags at the Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District, which is luxurious but family-friendly, and offers complimentary cribs and diapers as well as a rooftop pool and spa. The Meatpacking District, while not specifically known as a gay neighborhood, is nestled close to both Chelsea and the West Village, and all the Pride events that will be taking place there.
3
Walk the kids 20 minutes south to the Children's Museum of the Arts in the West Village, where they can indulge in a variety of hands-on art activities and exhibitions featuring children's art from more than 50 countries around the world. There are activities suited to children ages 1 to 15, and a number of educational programs focused on diversity and communication.
4
Another twenty minutes south by foot you can have lunch at Bubby's in Tribeca, a supremely family-friendly option that doubles as a place to see and be seen. The helpful staff has crayons and other diversion tactics on hand so you can enjoy their classic diner fare in peace.
5
In the afternoon take a trip uptown to the Central Park Zoo, a small and accessible animal-viewing experience that will get the kids up close and personal to penguins, polar bears, monkeys and more, then walk up north through the park to see the statue of Alice in Wonderland statue and the model-boat pond, where you can while away the afternoon in the sunshine.
6
If you're here in the Spring, you're here for Pride, so grab a blanket and a picnic dinner and head to Pier 46 in the West Village, where NYC Pride will be hosting Family Movie Night, a recent and very popular addition to the Pride roster that brings together LGBT families for a night of movie fun on the shores of the Hudson River.
7
Back at the hotel you can use the concierge services to arrange childcare, and have a couple massage in the spa before heading to bed.
