The Greenbelt Conservancy on Staten Island is home to almost 3000-acres of trail and parkland.  Full of streams, footbridges and stone ruins, it's the largest rural park in an urban area in the entire US.  Worth at least a half a day of hiking, you can refuel with top-notch Italian food in the neighboring town.
