Tucked between sandstone cliffs, La Jolla Cove is one of the most photographed beaches in Southern California because of its beauty. Despite its small size and gritty sand, it is popular with swimmers, snorkelers and scuba divers in the summer because of low surf and water visibility up to 30 feet (9 m). Part of the San Diego La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve, there's plenty of marine life to observe, but surfboards, boogie boards, kayaks and floats are barred.
