The 64-room Arts Hotel, run by the Sullivan family, was built in 1969. It has basic rooms but extras like free bicycles, walking tours, in-house movies and undercover secure parking. It's right in the middle of bookshops, movies, galleries, pubs and restaurants and walkable distance to the Harbour Bridge and Bondi Beach. Right next door is a pub with a US$5 beer at happy hour.
