The nearly 180-mile (300 km) Garden Route between Mossel Bay to Storms River is South Africa's famous country road. Scenic Route 62 travels among high mountains with twisting passes, through vineyards and orchards and across the rugged Karoo plains. Along the way you can visit the Cango Caves, find a secluded beach, take a safari drive or stop in one or more of the 10 nature reserves along the route. The busiest months are December and January when it is best to book ahead.
