The picturesque dragon boat races are held in various watery venues around Shanghai on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar, accompanied by a three-day Dragon Boat Festival. Traditionally people snack on zongzi, little packets of sticky rice wrapped in reed or bamboo leaves, with or without fillings.
