The Quing Ming Festival or Tomb-Sweeping Day honors the dead but also celebrates the living by taking a spring outing or flying a kite. Part of the tradition is cutting the kite's string when aloft, letting it fly free and so bring good luck and eliminate illness. You might join in by visiting Fushouyuan, Shanghai's largest cemetery where golf carts take people around. Metro: Sheshan.
