King George II was the last monarch to live in this 500 years-old palace. Queen Victoria restored the building and opened it to the general public in 1838, although its 50 apartments are still used today by esteemed servants and subjects appointed by the monarchy in 'grace and favour'. Apart from the grand building itself, the palace grounds have a famous maze, extensive gardens, historic tennis courts and the largest grape vine in the world, allegedly.
