Dating back to 1653, this world-famous opera company performed the premiere of Mozart's Idomeneo and since 1875 has hosted the prestigious Münchner Opernfestspiele (the Munic Opera Festival). Its neo-Classical house is worth a visit on its own. Keep an eye out for its Young Audience events, in which students, military and civil service receive priority seating for 10 Euro.
