Planned as the royal avenue by King Maximillian II, Maximillianstraße is today the city's principal shopping avenue, the primary address for more upscale boutiques, including exclusive Munich labels and all the usual international, high-fashion suspects. Also on the street is the Fünf Höfe, a shopping mall that is as well-known for its architecture as it is for its specialty stores.
