The former Regulador Palace, 31-room Hotel Bagues dates from 1850, when its romantic Classicist facade was designed by Josep Domenech Fontseré. The name "regulator" translates "scale," recalling the old scale used when the building housed the Bagués-Masriera, the landmark jewelry store established in 1839. The shop has moved to Passeig de Gràcia, but the hotel maintains a museum of more than 100 pieces of the famed enamel jewelry. Occupying the premises since 2010, the hotel has a terrace bar with tapas and skyline views.
