Exploring Fantasyland

Recommended for : Family

Many of the city's attractions are within walking distance or reached through the bus/Metro network, so choose a centrally located hotel when you have the family in tow. The Catalonia Ramblas, just off Plaça de Catalunya, has rooms to accommodate families and a few perks for the parents like a spa and an outdoor pool with bar. Another option is the smaller H10 Catalunya Plaza.

Who needs Walt Disney when you have Antoni Gaudí and his whimsical architecture? Start off your morning with a visit to Casa Batlló, a short walk by way of the Ramba Catalunya. The arched roof that resembles a dragon charms children of all ages. A project is underway to create a Lego version of the building.

Grab a quick and healthy lunch at a nearby branch of Pans & Company.

4

Window-shop down Passeig de Gràcia back towards Plaça de Catalunya or take the metro one stop from Paseo de Gracia to the Plaça where you can refresh at the hotel before setting out for the rest of the day.

Spend the rest of the day exploring one of the oldest amusement parks in Europe - Tibidabo, high on a hill above the city. It's open from noon well into the evening. You can catch a direct bus from Plaça de Catalunya or - more fun - try the tram-funicular combo. Breath-taking rides and views, special events, the Sky Walk promenade and restaurants/bars await. The bus will return you almost to your hotel's door when everyone is all tuckered out.
