La Pedrera - its formal name is Casa Milà - was the last private work done by Antoni Gaudí. Commissioned by a Spanish industrialist named Milà, it is two apartment blocks linked by interior courtyards and a sinuous common facade. Built in 1906, the modernistic treasure was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. Headquarters of the Catalunya-La Pedrera Foundation, it has a cultural center that sponsors exhibitions and other activities.
