Teatro Degollado, a neoclassic theater in the city's central plaza, is home to dance, opera, concerts and other cultural events. It was inaugurated first in 1866 with a performance of "Lucia di Lammermoor," followed by four more opening ceremonies with each renovation, the last in 1964. Big enough to hold more than 1,000 spectators, it is filled with paintings, murals and sculpture and has a striking mosaic on the exterior. The ticket office is open daily 10 am - 3 pm and 4 pm - 7 pm
