Monteverde is a West Loop spot for refined Italian food from Top Chef Sarah Grueneberg in an communal industrial setting of whitewashed planks and exposed ductwork. On the family-style menu is what Grueneberg and her team call "cooking with a traditional heart and a modern hand." It's pasta-focused with typical and creative pappardelle, tagliatelle, cannelloni or oriechette, but make sure you also order a steak and a ragu alla napoletana for the table. If you have room for dessert, try the butterscotch budino, a salted butterscotch pudding. Reservations recommended, although walk ins welcome.
