The New River Inn Museum is a 1905 hotel, the first property in the country to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society is headquartered in the building, which had 24 guest rooms, running ice water and its own sewer and irrigation systems. Free walking tours of the historical neighborhood along the river are given at 2:30 pm the first Sunday of the month, October to May.
