Fort East Martello is a Civil War fortification that has been a museum of local art and history since 1950, but its most famous "exhibit" since 1994 is the spooky handmade doll Robert, the inspiration for the fabulously murderous Chucky of the horror franchise. Yes, there's a gift shop with paranormal paraphernalia. Special after-dark visits can be arranged with Robert. On the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the fort is the best-preserved example of the Martello military tower architecture in the country.
