Lummus Park, 74 acres of swaying palms, white sands and palm-thatched beach huts, stretches along the Atlantic Ocean between 5th and 15th Street. A favorite backdrop for photo shoots, TV shows like the old Miami Vice and more recently the movie Chef, this gay-friendly beach is open from sunrise to sunset. It has fitness equipment, volleyball nets, a tot lot and playground. Paved paths for walking or bicycling meander through the park and connect to the Miami Beach boardwalk.
