Twenty minutes from downtown St. Petersburg, Pass-a-Grille stretches all of one block between Boca Ciega Bay and the Gulf of Mexico and some 22 blocks to the southernmost end of St. Pete Beach. It is a longtime LGBTQ beach paradise with quaint bungalows, art galleries, boutiques, fishing piers and laid-back charm. Its sugar-sand beach was one of the first where gays and lesbians could be themselves. Folks still remember The Lighted Tree, one of the first gay bars in the area.
