A tiny domed theater located inside the Smithsonian Ripley Center on the National Mall, the Discovery Theater holds more than 300 kid-centric live theatrical performances each year that are suitable for all ages. The shows are educational and lively, from a Tot Rock concert series to puppet shows. Most shows begin before noon. Another tip: there's a small carousel out front of the Smithsonian Building next door.
