Award-winning Fred's is a 60-seat restaurant serving minimalist, season-driven fare like whole boneless duck with fig and hazelnut stuffing. Leg of lamb is the signature dish. The open kitchen with free-standing Tuscan grills and a custom-made hearth is headed by Chef Danielle Alvarez, a Cuban-American who came to vacation and stayed. Previously, she worked at The French Laundry and Chez Parnisse in California. From chef down, the kitchen is female dominated, including the sous chef, pastry chef, sommelier and general manager.
