With one of the best swimming beaches in Cape Town, Fish Hoek is a pleasant commuters' suburb and tourist destination on False Bay midway between downtown and Simon's Town. It is easily reached by Metrorail. Popular for trek fishing (casting nets from small boats), it offers plenty of aquatic activities like surfing, kayaking and sailing as well as whale watching from August through November. Fish Hoek is "dry," meaning you can't buy alcohol in package stores, but restaurants and pubs serve beer, wine and spirits.
