The Spring Lantern Festival is celebrated by the display of a forest of red lanterns, folk dances, stilt walking and the eating of yuanxiao, a sticky rice dumpling stuffed with various fillings. It also serves as a Chinese Valentine's Day as boys and girls use it as an excuse to communicate. Falling on the 15th day of the first month after the lunar new year, the festival is celebrated all over town, but the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Plaza in Tsim Sha Tsui is a good place to tap into activities.
