Tim Ho Wan has the distinction of being the world's cheapest one-star Michelin restaurant. Dim sum here cost less than US$12. Opened in 2009 by Chef Mak Kwai Pui, formerly at the three-starred Lung King Heen, it has rapidly expanded from the original 20-seat hole-in-the-wall to an international chain. The original is now in Olympian City in Tai Kok Tsui with others in Central (IFC Mall), Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po and North Point. Tai Kok Tsui, Sham Shui Po and North Point each holds a Michelin star.
