Completed in 1993, Tian Ta Buddha - or Big Buddha - is a 112-foot (34 meter) bronze statue near the Po Lin Monastery. The Buddha draws pilgrims from all over Asia and tourists from all over the world. There is a popular vegetarian restaurant at the monastery. The most scenic way of getting there is the MTR to the Tung Chung Station, exit B, then the 25-minute Ngong Ping Cable Car, and a 10-minute walk to the monastery, which was considered remote until the advent of the cable-car tourist attraction.
