Immaculate Roman style baths are still standing alongside the modern shops and restaurants in this thriving town west of London. Shop until you drop and then relax in one of its many spas, some with naturally hot waters in which the Roman soldiers used to bath a few centuries ago. It is a Unesco World Heritage Site, and it has a delightful architecture and a good selection of museums. Approximately an hour and a half outside London, it makes for a relaxing stop on the way to Stonehenge.
