With an agreeable climate year around and a convenient location on the French Riviera, Nice has a full calendar of internationally known events in the city and near by, including the Nice Jazz Festival and one of the best Carnivals in the world. A short bus or train ride away is the Cannes Film Festival which - since 2010 - has had an independently sponsored Queer Palm for LGBTQ-relevant films entered into the Cannes Film Festival. To the east, Monaco has its famed Grand Prix of Formula One Racing and other international sports competitions. It's also a stop for major international road shows, so check the what's in town when you are.
Nice's Pink Parade - the Pride Parade each July - is probably Nice's most famous LGBTQ event, but new to the Carnival is a Lou Queernavel, a LGBTQ-themed party that drew over 15,000 in its inaugural year. Nice also has a Iron Man competition and gay-lesbian film festival.
