The Floralis Génerica is an 18-ton, 75-foot (23 m) high mechanical flower made out of stainless steel designed and gifted to the city by Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano. It hovers over a reflecting pool on the Plaza de las Naciones Unidas, and its petals open at 8 o'clock in morning and glow reds when closed at night.
