One of the world's most beautiful cemeteries, La Recoleta Cemetery was built around the Our Lady of Pilar covent and church. The 14-acre (5.5 ha) grounds include 4,691 vaults and intricately sculpted mausoleums organized around tree-lined walkways. Notable tombs include that of Eva Peron, former Argentine presidents, nobel prize winners and Napoleon's granddaughter. Tours are available.
